Shared experiences bring people together, not only in private life but also in the workplace. At ID Engineering, a positive working environment is actively promoted – despite, or perhaps because of, the heavy workload that each employee handles daily. This is precisely why events such as the ADAC driving safety training, in which almost the entire team participated in early May, provide a welcome break from everyday work.

Out of the office, into the car, and pushing limits. What is not permitted on public roads is deliberately practiced during ADAC driving safety training. Emergency braking from high speed, driving through a suddenly appearing water fountain, or navigating a slalom through an obstacle course. The ID colleagues were able to try all of this for a day.

Through random selection, teams of 12 people each were assembled across departments. Whether managing director, warehouse worker, or project manager, female or male. Chance decided. A positive side effect: colleagues who rarely interact during daily work can get to know each other better and support one another.

The relaxed atmosphere at the ADAC training facility in Weilerswist did the rest. Under the guidance of professionals, participants could test their driving skills in extreme situations, such as the vehicle’s behavior during oversteer or understeer, or during aquaplaning. “We were able to test our limits, cheer each other on, and had a lot of fun doing it,” said ID employee Lea Gottschalk enthusiastically.

At the end of the day together, everyone agreed that they would not soon forget this experience. Initial ideas for the next team-building event are already being hatched.
