The requirements for modern mechanical and plant engineering are changing noticeably: software, networking, and digital services are becoming increasingly important. Accordingly, topics such as cybersecurity, the new EU Machinery Regulation, and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) are coming into sharper focus.

ID Engineering recognized this development early on and has reacted consistently, even before the legal requirements come into force in 2027. In a comprehensive training session by Müller & Partner experts, a total of 16 colleagues from all technical departments were specifically trained over two days this week. The training covered, for example, the new regulatory requirements and the secure design of software-based machinery. The goal of the training was to create widespread awareness regarding cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity for products with digital elements

A particular focus of the training was on the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). This EU legal framework establishes mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements for the first time. This also affects machines and systems whose functions depend significantly on software, networks, or external data. The EU regulation obliges manufacturers, distributors, importers, and operators alike to ensure a higher level of cybersecurity.

Prioritizing cybersecurity as early as the conceptual phase

For ID Engineering, this means that cybersecurity is already considered during the conceptual and development phases. Machines are designed to be not only functional and safe in terms of traditional security, but also cyber-resilient—clearly regulated, documented, and prepared for future requirements.

With this training, ID underlines its clear commitment to realizing high-quality mechanical and electrical systems while also offering secure, compliant, and future-proof software solutions. Cybersecurity is not understood as an add-on, but as an integral part of modern machine concepts.

Significant expertise from ID Engineering

In this way, ID strengthens its competence at the intersection of mechanical engineering, software, and IT security—ensuring that customer systems are sustainably protected with regard to current and upcoming legal requirements.
