In-house Robotics Lab for Solution-Oriented Tests, with Automated Surface Cleaning as an Example

At ID, the continuous development and improvement of automation processes drives new offerings that provide real added value to customers. The ID portfolio is now supplemented by a robotics lab, where, among other things, a cleaning device for automated surface cleaning is available for various tests.

In the robotics lab, the cleaning belt for automated cleaning of industrial component surfaces is located.

Realistic Conditions in ID Engineering’s Robotics Lab

In the company’s own robotics lab, under realistic conditions, customer-specific processes, workflows, and prototypes can be tested, automation tasks can be verified closer to series production, project risks minimized, and responses to changed requirements handled with greater flexibility.

The testing possibilities are very diverse:

  • realize customized test setups for industrial image processing and lighting technology
  • Evaluate feasibility
  • Implement small series under real production conditions
  • Develop individual robot grippers, machine and system components, and build suitable prototypes
  • Develop processes for cleaning and surface pre-treatment

Automated Cleaning of Industrial Surfaces

For the realistic testing of automated surface cleaning, ID utilizes a specially developed and protected machine, whose core component is a microfiber cleaning belt from cooperation partner bellanet GmbH. This belt is drawn across the surface to be cleaned, ensuring a process-reliable and reliable cleaning.

The microfiber quality can be individually adapted to the application. This enables a consistently high cleaning result that cannot be achieved by manual cleaning and also saves personnel resources.

Numerous Applications in Industry

In many industrial production areas, such as the automotive industry, cleanliness is a top priority. This applies to both the removal of residues and the preparation of all types of surfaces. A residue-free and uniform wiping result is particularly important here to ensure consistent quality. In laboratory use, ID can equip the microfiber cleaning device with different cleaning belts:

  • Universal: The white belt is particularly versatile due to its special waffle structure and is therefore suitable for many applications.
  • Oils & Greases: The blue belt is absorbent and highly permeable, making it excellent for absorbing fats and oils.
  • Light Contamination: The yellow belt is well suited for picking up light production contamination.
  • High-Gloss Surfaces: The grey belt is very soft and therefore particularly gentle on sensitive surfaces.

Whether as a stand-alone solution, a complete system, or a tool for robots, the cleaning belt for surface cleaning can be used in various ways and for the most diverse components. In the robotics lab, ID offers the opportunity to test the ideal configuration of the device in advance.
