New department at ID Engineering: Industrial image processing in special machine construction

Anyone who has visited industry-specific trade fairs for automation and robotics in recent weeks and months and has been following international developments in the mechanical engineering sector knows that image processing system integration is a crucial factor in today’s production processes. Inspection, feeding, and decision-making processes are increasingly automated via image processing systems in combination with deep learning algorithms.

Image processing systems instead of simple sensor technology

Nowadays, production processes in many areas can no longer avoid a 100% inspection of their products or assemblies, for example, to avoid complaints or to ensure the tracking of components. The requirements for the characteristics to be tested have become increasingly complex. Simple sensor technology is often no longer sufficient. This is where image processing systems are used, with which you can check and measure geometries, read DMC codes or recognize text. Behind such camera solutions is extensive engineering know-how to ensure stable testing. This includes, among other things, the selection of the right camera and lens, the appropriate distances and the exact illumination. Last but not least, innovative software development for testing the characteristics is an essential component of the engineering service. This is precisely why ID now has its own department headed by the experienced vision system developer Michael Sartor, based in Duisburg.

Consulting and project management for industrial image processing in automation systems

High-resolution and up to complex 2D and 3D multi-cameras in conjunction with self-learning and trained AI systems (deep learning) or for extreme cycle times of up to 1000 pieces per minute – a great deal of know-how and programming experience is required for the development of smart vision systems. Vision expert and software developer Michael Sartor, head of the new department at ID Engineering, brings this with him. In the leading optoelectronics manufacturer for industrial image processing OPTO Engineering, ID has found the perfect sparring partner on the product side.

ID customers who want to expand or modernize existing automation systems will from now on receive the complete consulting and implementation package from a single source.
