Collaboration with RBTX at igus for demanding image processing projects

The stated goal of our new alliance with the world-renowned expert for high-performance polymers, IGUS from Cologne, is to provide affordable robotics solutions with a fast return on investment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). We always come on board when it comes to demanding image processing projects for the RBTX robotics marketplace, as we specialize in machine vision in special machine construction.

IGUS has been a market leader for decades in the production of plastic plain bearings and energy chains made of solid plastic, as well as flexible special cables in combination with corresponding robotics systems. Especially for SMEs, costs are decisive when it comes to retrofitting existing machines or new acquisitions in automation.

Low-cost automation solutions for SMEs under 10,000 euros

For this purpose, IGUS offers solutions including control systems for under 10,000 euros via the platform Your marketplace for low-cost robotics. Whether it’s an axis gantry, mobile robots and grippers, end effectors, or control systems, the products, including price filters, can be found easily and clearly in the online portal to get a first overview. When it comes to the details, the user can arrange an appointment for a free 30-minute video consultation. Under the title “Test before invest”, it is possible to have the automation task tested in advance free of charge, stating the workpieces with application description, and then receive a fixed price.

ID’s expertise for demanding image processing

Behind the button Vision on the portal, there are numerous products for 2D and 3D image processing to choose from. This is because specialized camera guidance systems are among the most important components of modern automation.

“We come into play wherever simple ‘smart camera systems’ are no longer sufficient, where high speeds, extreme resolutions, deep-learning algorithms, or high demands on interfaces and engineering are required.”

says Michael Sartor, Head of the Vision Department at ID. ID Engineering will now support RBTX with image processing in Germany-wide sales. In order to deepen the cooperation in demanding image processing projects, the experts from both companies recently met for an exchange. Julian Weber from the ID Vision Team presented various possibilities in special machine construction to the RBTX experts (see photo).

The foundation for the cooperation has been laid. The first joint project will not be long in coming, as the demand for affordable modernization of existing production facilities or new automation systems is high. This includes innovative image processing, in which ID specializes.
