Female Power in the Engineering Sector – Standard at ID
While women are a rarity in the mechanical engineering industry elsewhere, ID’s management has been committed for years to breaking down gender stereotypes in the workplace. A total of 10 women work at ID in diverse areas: as a design engineer, media designer, or in technical purchasing. The responsibilities at reception are also demanding. Today, we present the female power at ID in more detail.
The issue of equal treatment in the workplace remains highly relevant – unfortunately. As it should have long been self-evident that no distinction is made between men and women. However, International Women’s Day, Equal Pay Day, and many protests worldwide make it clear: the issue still needs attention. It is therefore time for positive examples.
Jennifer Krings joined ID during her practical semester of mechanical engineering studies, specializing in mechatronics, and has been working as a permanent mechatronics engineer at the company since 2019. She specializes in programmable logic controllers (PLCs). After a training course, she expanded her knowledge to camera technology with FabImage and has been part of the new Image Processing department since autumn 2023. She particularly values her job for the diverse tasks and variety.
Margot Korte is referred to by the staff as the “heart” of ID. The trained industrial clerk and experienced buyer has enriched the ID team since 2016 with extensive organizational talent and scheduling expertise. Her tasks have now become so extensive and responsible that she is supported by a new colleague. This allows her to focus primarily on technical purchasing and accounting at ID.
Sylvia Henzold is the new ‘force’ since June 2023, supporting Margot Korte in purchasing and at the switchboard. As the first point of contact for customers, employees, and suppliers, she maintains an overview. Her personal skills perfectly match her area of activity at ID: “I enjoy organizing, work in a structured manner, love variety, and am communicative.”
Maike Krüger , a trained office clerk, has been permanently employed at ID for 16 years and is particularly responsible for the extensive spare parts procurement for a major client. Her independent and organized approach is well-received by the ID team.
Lea Gottschalk has been working part-time at ID since March 2024, alongside her Master’s studies in Sustainability Management & Leadership, and applies her theoretical knowledge of sustainability management in practice. This includes the compliance and implementation of sustainability reporting obligations (CSRD) with the ESRS reporting standards. The goal is to steer the company’s economic activities in a more environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically sound direction.
Melanie Sartor: The trained educator has been working as a career changer on a mini-job basis at the Duisburg site for a good half year. She provides support in project management, sales, and purchasing, as well as with administrative tasks.
Anke Steier studied mechanical engineering after her training as a technical draftswoman and has been working for over 20 years, with an interim stay abroad, as a mechanical engineer for a major client at ID.
