The “BATTERY SHOW EUROPE” in Stuttgart, held from June 9 to 11, showcased the latest technologies for manufacturing state-of-the-art batteries. The applications for batteries range from electric and hybrid vehicles, renewable energies, and mobile electronic devices to medical technology, military, and telecommunications. Among the approximately 17,000 trade fair visitors was an ID employee with a very special mission.

Andreas Thiex joined ID on June 1st, specifically hired for the development and sales of adhesive technologies. With his many years of experience in this field, the ID management, together with the acquisition of Vulkan Technic Klebetechnologie, has brought an experienced professional into the company. At the Battery Show, Thiex was able to establish new contacts and research where films and tapes are used in battery packs that can be applied with ID adhesive heads. Furthermore, he gained an overview of new materials and trends in battery technology.

Thiex visited all renowned adhesive tape manufacturers, including Henkel/ATP, Isovolta, Lohmann, Synflex, Winterhalder, and Shield-Tech, and presented to them the services and cooperation opportunities of ID’s new adhesive technology department. From prototype devices to highly complex series production systems, ID realizes customized adhesive solutions for a wide range of applications.

A significant advantage for ID is that Thiex has been familiar with adhesive technology for many years and, at the Battery Show, met both “old acquaintances” and established new contacts with larger mechanical engineering companies, such as Strama-MPS, Baumann Automation, and the internationally active Grob-Werke.

The Battery Show demonstrated that the visit was worthwhile, and Thiex expects new inquiries for ID’s adhesive technology offerings in the aftermath.
