Training manager René Dederichs learned about the initiative through a flyer from the Euskirchen Jobcenter. After a brief consultation with management, it was clear: ID would take part in the “Praktikumswoche NRW” initiative and sees good opportunities to attract young people to the company’s training occupations.

It has always been the case: only when you try something out in practice do you gain a real impression of what to expect in working life. That is exactly what “Praktikumswoche NRW” is about, bringing training companies together with interested students. And this is how it works: ID Engineering registered as a provider in the online portal and offered Tuesdays and Thursdays during the NRW summer holidays as internship days for the training occupation “Technical Product Designer”.

One girl and two boys signed up, and ID prepared an exciting day for them so that they could gain as many insights as possible into the career opportunities offered by special-purpose machine engineering and what you do in particular in Technical Product Design.

The first steps in using the SolidWorks CAD program and the basics of 3D printing were followed by design work on the PC and the 3D printing of a screw clamp. The students were amazed when they held their first self-designed component in their hands.

The Euskirchen specialists in special-purpose machine engineering also attract interested young people for internships through other events in the Euskirchen region. For example, in July ID took part in the event “Check In – Ausbildung und Arbeit” at the Tuchfabrik Euskirchen and met a young man who completed an internship in the field of electrical engineering in August.
