New Apprentice Technical Product Designer
Just in time for the new apprenticeship year and one day before his 18th birthday, John Weigandt started his apprenticeship as a Technical Product Designer at ID in Euskirchen in August. We asked him why he was so passionately interested in this particular profession.
The young John Weigandt from Euskirchen possesses all the qualities of an eager and interested apprentice. Already in 10th grade, he participated in a CAD course at RWTH Aachen in his free time, engaged with 3D printing, and bought a 3D printer for home.
Meeting at the BZE Apprenticeship Fair
At the apprenticeship fair of the Vocational Training Center Euskirchen in September 2023, the vocational baccalaureate graduate spoke with Managing Director Tobias Butscheid and trainer René Dederichs at the ID Engineering booth. Contact details were quickly exchanged, and he was invited for a trial internship last October. There, the young man wisely brought his application documents. The conclusion after four days of internship was positive for both parties.
ID Made the Best Impression
Not only was the responsible supervisor at ID impressed, but John himself found the company very appealing both professionally and in terms of working atmosphere, and expressed his interest in an apprenticeship position. Especially since good apprentices are rare nowadays and employers also need to make a good impression, this was a stroke of luck. Once it was clear that both parties would come together, the necessary steps followed rapidly. The apprenticeship contract was signed in January 2024.
Since August 1st, under the collegial supervision of his trainer, he has been familiarizing himself with the CAD program SolidWorks and is also learning many new things.
ID Offers Taster Day at the Company
There are so many students who are eager to learn new things but do not get the opportunity to do so. ID also wants to give these young people a chance and is therefore inviting around 15 scholarship recipients to its company headquarters in Euskirchen next year during the Easter holidays, where they can get a taste of various areas and view current special machine construction projects live on site in the assembly hall.
