New Generation Assumes Leadership at ID Engineering
We are continuing this year what successfully began last year. The goal is: ID positions itself as an innovative technology service provider with a focus on robotics and industrial image processing (Machine Vision). Externally, we are already visible with a new logo and the slogan “Vision to value”. Now, a new, younger management team is leading the company into the future.
It is the next logical step. ID founder and former Managing Director Michael Gottschalk confidently handed over the company’s leadership at the beginning of February to Tobias Butscheid, the new Managing Director, and Michael Mießen, the new Technical Director. The two men in their mid-30s are leading ID-Engineering’s business into the future as the “Next Generation”. Together, they are responsible for the strategic, organizational, and technical direction, specializing in automation for quality inspection using Machine Vision.
Optimal Combination of Technical Expertise and Leadership Skills
The two combine their professional strengths in special machine construction – each in their specialized field – with their professional experience in leadership positions. While Tobias Butscheid has been with ID for ten years, his professional paths repeatedly crossed with Michael Mießen through collaborations with partner companies. These were excellent conditions for them to get to know each other and to combine their expertise and knowledge as a duo, applying it to ID’s interests. This was also recognized by ID founder Michael Gottschalk, who is now dedicating himself to new tasks within the management of the parent company Schoeller Werk. However, he will continue to advise the new management.
Butscheid and Mießen have set themselves the goal of further advancing the specialization in robotics, machine vision, and software in special machine construction and guiding ID towards a future-proof economy.
Tobias Butscheid, new Managing Director of ID GmbH
Tobias Butscheid has been managing ID’s operational business for a year and a half and, as an authorized signatory, represents the company’s business interests. With over nine years of experience in mechanical engineering and strong expertise in robotics, he combines mechanical engineering and strategic project management. After completing his Bachelor’s degree as an engineer for mechanical design, the trained industrial mechanic completed a part-time Master of Engineering degree with top grades. At ID, he significantly drives new customer acquisition. Furthermore, in his new role as Managing Director, he focuses on topics such as sustainability and family-friendliness. Since 2023, he has been a member of the IHK Regional Committee Eifel.
Michael Mießen, new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of ID GmbH
He has known both ID founder Michael Gottschalk and the company itself for many years of collaboration in his positions at partner companies, including as Technical Director of an automation company. For the past five years, he was Head of Software Engineering at a regional special machine manufacturer, responsible for the technical and disciplinary management of PLC and robot programming, electrical design, as well as service and commissioning. From 2019 to 2021, he worked as a project manager at the ID parent company, Schoeller Werk. Following his training as an electrician, he completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree and subsequently a Master of Engineering (Technical Management) while working.
