Sustainability Goals in Operations – Training for SDG-Scouts® business

To advance the transformation towards greater sustainability within their own operations, ID employees will participate in a three-part workshop series for companies starting in March, which concludes with the SDG-Scouts® – business certificate. What does the program entail and what are its objectives?

The 17 sustainability goals established by the United Nations, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are intended to address economic, ecological, and social sustainability. Awareness of the need for a corporate sustainability strategy is also growing in companies. This is where the Euskirchen District Economic Development program comes in, positioning itself as a model region for a “Sustainable Business Location.”

The companies in the region benefit from this, for example, by registering their employees for a free training for SDG-Scouts® – business can register. It imparts interdisciplinary skills in the areas of sustainable workplace design, project management, and communication. Participants record their company’s sustainability achievements and identify corresponding potential for improvement. Building on this, the project teams define a project within the training that aims to advance at least one of the SDGs within the company.

Develop and Present a Practical Sustainability Project

At the end, the concept for a practical sustainability project is presented, ideally in the presence of the management. Upon successful participation, employees receive the B.A.U.M. certificate “SDG-Scouts® – business – Employees for Sustainability in Companies”.
