Trade fair “all about automation” in Düsseldorf a complete success for ID
On September 17 and 18, 2025, the “Alte Schmiedehalle” in the Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf was once again the meeting point for everyone in North Rhine-Westphalia who is shaping the future with automation, robotics and digitization. ID was there for the first time with its own stand as an exhibitor and was impressed by the local trade fair concept.
After two days at the trade fair, ID sales employee Hendrik Hölscher came to a very clear conclusion: “The ‘all about automation’ in Düsseldorf is exactly the right place for us to meet interested parties, customers and suppliers from our catchment area and to inform them about our solutions.” ID employees have often visited the trade fair. This time, ID started with its own stand.
Machine vision with live demonstration at the ID stand in Düsseldorf
The live demonstrations were eye-catchers at the ID stand. Examples of industrial image processing in automation were shown, for example for troubleshooting and error detection on components using various methods, e.g.:
- Stereo photometry: A component is illuminated from four different directions. Errors are made visible in these photos based on the shadows cast. For example, scratches in the component can be detected.
- Striped light projection is an optical 3D measurement method in which structured light patterns are projected onto an object and their distortions are recorded by a camera. The exact 3D geometry of the surface is calculated from these distortions using triangulation. With this method, surfaces can be precisely measured with a height accuracy of up to 5 µm.
- 3D sensors provide three-dimensional coordinates to guide the robot with pinpoint accuracy. This is relevant, among other things, in the bin picking process for precise component recognition.
Trade fair concept of “all about automation” convinces ID
“I particularly liked the fact that there are uniform stand sizes. Nobody is overshadowed by an industry leader, and every stand receives the same attention,” says ID employee Hölscher, pleased with the successful start as an exhibitor. The principle of reaching regional exhibitors and trade visitors at various locations and dates throughout Germany with this trade fair for automation is receiving a great response.
