Voluntary Sustainability Report from ID Engineering now online
ID’s first voluntary sustainability report is now available online on the homepage. It is voluntary because ID is not yet legally obliged to report. According to the current EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), companies are only required to report if they meet at least two of the following three criteria: more than 250 employees, a balance sheet total exceeding 25 million euros, or a net turnover exceeding 50 million euros.
Although there is a proposal at EU level to raise this threshold to 1,000 employees in the future, it has not yet been adopted and is therefore not legally binding. As a sustainability strategy offers many companies the opportunity to position themselves for a sustainable and future-proof future, ID has taken proactive steps.
Sustainability as a Corporate Goal
Sustainability is a corporate goal that ID, together with its parent company, the Schoeller Werk GmbH & Co.KG in Hellenthal (Eifel), is intensively promoting and implementing. In the areas of biodiversity and energy, ID has already taken concrete measures:
Biodiversity: ID promotes biodiversity on the company premises and reduces its ecological footprint with a sustainability project for a nature-oriented employee lounge.
Energy: Efficiency improvements and the increased use of renewable energies make a significant contribution to sustainable development.
Legal Requirements for Sustainability Reporting
The requirements of the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) are very complex. Therefore, it requires specialists within the company, such as ID employees Lea Gottschalk and Jens Janke, who have been trained as SDG-Scouts® – business.
The requirements include:
- Analysis of CSRD obligations (minimum disclosures) and individual strategy development, including precise information on corporate governance, total number of employees, and revenue development.
- Double Materiality Analysis: In this process, topics considered material by the company are selected from almost 1,200 data points, including environmental and climate protection measures.
- Development of relevant ESG key figures and data management (e.g., water consumption as a material element)
- Preparation of an EU-compliant sustainability report
ID Engineering sees the CSRD sustainability strategy as a great opportunity to use this expertise to support other companies in developing their sustainability goals in the future.
The full report is available on the ID homepage.
